Travel Information:

The Organizing committee will be helpful with the transport of participants from the Frýdlant nad Ostravicí railway station by shuttling cars. If the transport capacity allows then based on a previous contact a transport from the Ostrava airport or the Ostrava main railway station may be assured as well.

To Frýdlant nad Ostravicí by train

Ostrava lies on the main railroad and therefore another possibility how to get to Ostrava is to take a train. There is a frequent train connection to/from Prague, which usually takes about 3 hours and costs about CZK 400-600 (depending on train categories). We suggest to buy a ticket to Ostrava hlavní nádraží (Ostrava main station), from which there is a regular direct connection to Frýdlant nad Ostravicí which takes about 50 minutes. For particular connections, visit the IDOS web page.

To Malenovice by car

The last possibility how to reach the conference venue is to use a car. If you travel from Prague, use a highway (speed limit 130 kmph) number D1, which goes to Brno, Olomouc and Lipník nad Bečvou. Then continue on an ordinary 1st class road (speed limit 90 kmph) through Hranice na Moravě, Nový Jičín and Příbor to Frýdek-Místek, where you have to turn to the direction Frýdlant nad Ostravicí. Malenovice is a village neighbouring with Frýdlant nad Ostravicí.
If you travel from south then join the highway D1 at any point and continue as described above. From Warsaw, we suggest to take a highway through Czestochowa, Bielsko-Biala, Czieszyn-Český Těšín and from Český Těšín take a route to Frýdek-Místek. For getting to the venue from Slovakia we suggest either to go through Čadca and Třinec to Frýdek-Místek and then as above or through Makov and then Ostravice. Some information about Czech highways including maps can be found here.

To Ostrava by airplane

Ostrava as a city with more than 300 thousands inhabitants it has a regular flight connection with Prague usually arranged by the Czech Airlines, which is a member of Skyteam. So, the cheapest way is to extend your flight ticket to Prague provided by any member of Skyteam. The Czech Airlines offer a flight directly to Leoš Janáček Ostrava airport four times a day. There is a special bus (number 33) providing a connection from the Ostrava Airport to the southern part of Ostrava. For a more comfortable and faster connection you can use a taxi (regular price is from CZK 600 to CZK 800). Moreover, there is a regular flight connection to Vienna as well.
