After a theoretical introduction to the theory of adjoint functors, monads, monads in clone form and Kleisli categories and examples of such structures, a new general notion of an automaton in a monad in clone form will be introduced. It will be shown that a large variety of fuzzy type automata (including standard automata, fuzzy automata and non-deterministic automata) can be represented by automata in monads in clone form. Some properties of the category of automata in monads will be investigated and relationships between automata in different monads will be described.
